The message is that the followers of Muhammed are terrorist.

The intended audience is anyone who views the cartoon but mostly countries with people who are in fear of terrorism occurring.

The writer is Kurt Westergaard the cartoon artist.

The bomb fuse going into his turban is what creates the persuasive rhetoric.

  1. Good work -- do you know the story behind this cartoon? It caused a HUGE deal in the fundamentalist Islamic community. SO much so that an extremist tried to kill the cartoonist this past December: http://af.reuters.com/article/worldNews/idAFTRE70I57Y20110119

As you think further about this cartoon, note the demonic expression of Muhammed. I have no idea but I wonder if the shape of the darker parts of his mustache/beard are counties on a map?

Visit the link above and Google the cartoonist, if you want, to know more about him.

  2. I actually read about the artist story when I found this picture, I still think its amazing how people can be so violent toward religion when in my generation of young Americans religion seems to be almost a non issue, I wonder if its because we have grown farther from religious views as young Americans, I know this is not true of all Americans but there is enough young people that don't have any bias to any religion or care if people criticize their views.
